Nendaz Chalet - About Nendaz
Nendaz is located in the heart of the "4 Vallees” mountain region of Switzerland, one of the most extensive ski, walking and mountain biking areas in Europe. From Nendaz and Siviez you can ski over to Verbier very easily, and enjoy this fabulous region without the Verbier prices!
The resort is very accessible, with two airports within a 1.5 hours drive (Sion at 20 minutes and Geneva at 1.5 hours), so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Nendaz are possible.
Nendaz has been given the “Families Welcome” award. This label is accredited by the Swiss Tourism Federation to resorts that are particularly convenient for families and focus on the needs and wishes of parents, children and people who accompany them. Skiing/ Snowboarding in Nendaz and the famous “4 Vallees”
The “4 Vallees” offers superb skiing on 410km of marked piste and snow cannons to guarantee excellent conditions throughout the ski season. This connected ski area includes the world famous Verbier, Siviez, Mont Fort, Thyon, Veysonnaz and Les Collons.
There are also extensive off-piste activities with 12 km of cross-country ski trails, 100 km of winter hiking trails and 40 km of showshoe tracks.
There is amazing skiing for all abilities from mid November to Mid April. You can ski the famous World Cup run - Piste de L'ours or visit the glacier on Mont Fort.
The resort also offers three ski schools and mini ski club for younger children.
The ski areas of Nendaz are unique and varied and ranges from 1,350m to 3,300m. At 3,300m, the Mont-Fort symbolises the peak of the “4-Valleys”. Due to the high altitude, you are sure to find excellent skiing conditions throughout the ski season. In addition, due to its exceptional scenery, the Mont-Fort is also an excellent excursion point for non-skiers. Off-piste skiers who are in search of freedom, untouched nature and powder snow will not be disappointed as this region as earned a reputation as being one of the best off-piste ski resorts in Europe.
From Nendaz it is possible to get to the slopes directly from the new lift system in the centre of the resort or by going to Siviez by the shuttle bus service included in the all-inclusive ski pass or by car. Being centrally located, Siviez allows you to ski in the direction of Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon or Verbier. The ski bus is a 5 minute walk from the chalet.

Family Holidays in Nendaz
Haute-Nendaz is very family orientated, and everything has been designed with children and families in mind. For this reason, Nendaz benefits from the “Families Welcome” accreditation.
Infants can be well looked after by either of the 2 crèches, and older children can enjoy private, group or family ski and snow-boarding lessons. The Tourist Information can provide a current list of babysitters to help during your stay.
With its frozen lake, Tracouet is an ideal location for children and beginners. A snow garden and specially adapted installations allow children to discover the joys of skiing in a fun way. Better value rates for ski passes for families are available.

Amenities in Nendaz
Nendaz provides a good selection of local shops and amenities. There is a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. During the summer months there is a market selling local wines, cheeses and produce. Sporting activities also include ice-skating, curling, sledging, swimming and tennis.
The resort offers doctors, pharmacies, clothes shops, ski rental outlets, grocery stores and much more.
Summer in Nendaz
Nendaz with its alpine scenery, flora and fauna can provide a huge selection of activities - both for the adventurous and those who just want to get out and enjoy the countryside and mountains.
In Nendaz there is an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts. There are well marked walking routes, mountain bike trails and road bike routes are all accessible from the resort. Other activities that are available include a range of water sports: sailing, windsurfing, jet ski, rafting, canoeing and kayaking all within easy access. For the more adventurous there is also canyoning, paragliding and climbing available.

Walking in Nendaz
In and around Nendaz there are approximately 250 kilometres of hiking trails, a network of paths running from the orchards in the valley up to the high alps. A “must do” is the excursion by cableway or mountain bike to the glacier terrain on Mont Fort. From here you will view 20 four-thousand-metre peaks, including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
Nendaz has the biggest network of ‘suonen’or “bisses” in the region – ancient irrigation channels, and 98 km of footpath now run along 8 of them. The walks along the bisses are easy and of little or no variation in altitude, ideal for families, children and elderly people.
Mountain Biking in Nendaz
To find out more there is a brilliant website www.tdmf.ch . The "Tour du Mont-Fort" is a mountain bike tour that links Nendaz, La Tzoumaz and Verbier. There are two versions of the tour. The easy rider version is a beautiful ride catering for amateurs and the pro rider version is aimed at riders more focused on performance. Detailed maps are also available from the Tourist Information in Nendaz.

Key Events in Nendaz
- International Alpine Horn-Festival: the biggest event of its kind in Switzerland with more than 100 players of all nationalities and lots of events and activities (July).
- Grand Raid: the longest and hardest mountain bike race in the world in which 4000 competitors attempt a course 131 km long from Verbier via Nendaz to Grimentz with a 4600 m difference in altitude (August).
- Guitar Festival: concerts for lovers of classical music with works from the baroque and contributions from South America and Russia (July and August).
